photos of anna and buzz's april wedding at alger house.  daisies are super sentimental to anna so i incorporated them as well as chamomile, duchess peonies, dusty miller, muscari, garden roses, tweedia, ranunculus, astilbe, lisianthus, white cherry blossoms, passion vine, hyacinth and more into the design.

i'm dishing out advice on wedding flowers in the bridal guide of today's metro new york.  page 24.   and because metro is an intermational newspaper, i'm in other editions too!  above is a photo of the moscow and st. petersburg edition.  this operation is going worldwide...

summer school!

announcing the next workshop...summer entertaining with flowers!

lovelies, 'tis the season for sun, fun & outdoor entertaining! the next flower workshop will be all about creating an arrangement for the summer table.  like the previous workshop, the m.o is the same -- we'll focus on seasonal materials, i'll teach you some basic principles and techniques of designing with flowers and once again, when you leave with your gorgeous arrangement, you will beam with pride when folks say, 'wow, you made that?!'

used white cherry blossoms, roses, ranunculus, dusty miller, stock, anemones, eucalyptus, lisianthus, geranium and ostrich feathers in my floral design.

so much promise...

 the tag said thunderbolt and that's a powerful name if ever i heard one.  i wanted them for a bridal bouquet.  the color was perfect.  sure they're ridiculously expensive but tree peonies are special.  they say WOW and that center...full on gorgeous.  the only thing that rivals their beauty is their fragility. got them back from market fine and immediately put them in the cooler so they can drink and relax until i needed them.  but i guess the commute to the location was rough.  while they appeared fine at first, when i went to arrange them, they fell apart.  and there's no salvaging, no life support, no nothing -- just a petal-less flower.

i brought them home even in their less than perfect state.  no one ever got to see how beautiful they were but i remember...

behind the scenes: vintage new york shoot

 some of my behind the scenes snaps from a recent photo shoot featured on style on pretty today...

the brief called for soft, romantic flowers in creamy neutrals, the softest of blush and peach styled with wedding gowns and tabletop by anthropologie.  with that in mind, i chose, among others, peonies, anemones, lilac, ranunculus, euc, spray roses, geranium and one of my favorites, cappucino hellebore {not the color's official name, just by personal description}.

and here are some of my favorite images from the final edit:

loved everything about this shoot -- the incredibly talented team, led by katie murphy of aisle candy and kt merry, photographer extraordinaire, the location, the gorgeous dresses, the brilliant styling, the beautiful watercolor dinnerware, the delicious almond croissants at craft services...
