like many florists, my style is constantly evolving.  lately i find myself drawned to small, leafy, shrub-like blossoms.  at market yesterday, in addition to some of my favorites, i picked up this beautiful orange asclepias (also known as butterfly milkweed) as well as the andromeda.  andromeda's white or pinkish bell-shaped blossoms, resembling lily-of-the-valley, develop in late winter and early spring.   aren't they both beauties? x

 it's another snowy blizzard day in new york.  and while the snow-dusted landscape is tres charmant, i must admit that i'm grown weary of the look.  so no snow pictures today.  instead, here is an image from a kat flower photo shoot.  i love the way tulips bend and flop.  and how they say spring!

last night, i met megan isaacs, a local jewelry designer, at a networking event for independent creatives.  she calls the above collection 'jewelry for the new economy.'  well said megan.
p.s. have you ever done speed networking?  it is exactly what it sounds like...tres intense.  i might not be able to speak again for a few days.

RIF

in my quest to recapture my days of voracious reading, i joined a book club.  this is our next read.  a debut novel, it was released earlier this month and getting rave reviews.  bonus: i know the author.  do it heidi!

upgrade

i sometimes wear wellies in the shop because i'm constantly changing vase water, carrying vases to and fro, splashing water everywhere but mostly on my shoes.  i like mine fine but these are kinda special. happy rainy tuesday lovelies x

another reason to look forward to spring...

 

 

liberty of london and their iconic, colorful floral prints are coming to a target near you!  the collection will include fashion, home accessories, storage and organization as well as garden.  it premieres march 14 and i promise will sell out fast.  to tide you over while you wait, download some cool desktop wallpaper for your computer and/or phone at target for free.  i love free.  but what i'd really like is for them to do the same thing to the facade of the atlantic center target as they did to the liberty department store.  don't tell me not to dream... {images via real simple, target and casa sugar}

i love this idea.  artist pete dungey has started pothole gardens, an ongoing series of public installations highlighting the problem with british roads.  imagine if we did this in new york?  as dungey says, 'if we planted one of those in every hole, it would be like a forest in the road.' {via a cup of jo}

i'm all about fragrant flowers this week.  remember that coral-y hyacinth i was admiring at market a few weeks ago?  well, here is it along with some freesia.  love, love, love.  i actually made a bouquet with the white freesia and an arrangement with the hyacinth, yellow-pinky-red freesia along with some lisianthus, lemon leaves and godetia.  forgot to take photos of either but you'll have to take my word that it was beautiful.  all of the above is available at the shop this week.  come on through...x

reality v. fantasy

 

i was struck by the color of these boxes in the snow.  and while this is my reality...

 

bold {floral} prints are everywhere this spring!  so in my fantasy, it is appropriate for me to wear all the above maintenant, sans cardigan, jacket or coat!  okay, at the very least, i can wear the tights now...

happy president's day lovelies.  not sure if you have the day off but one of my favorite things to do on a leisurely day is to lay on my couch and watch a good movie or the food network.  these throws would be perfect for that...i need to learn how to knit.
